Project overview
THE PRODUCT: Room booking application UI

The concept application was built while consulting a real-world coworking space in Eswatini. The application would solve scheduling issues and prevent double-booking of key spaces.

THE PROBLEM
​
Working professionals who need a meeting space or space to work in a coworking environment but are unsure of how busy the space will be at the time needed. There is a risk of going to the office and finding no space available or key rooms unavailable.

THE GOAL
​
The Goal of the project was to build a concept of how a simple application would look like that would help the Eswatini coworking space become more efficient at managing office space to maximise revenue.

Understanding the User
User research summary
The majority of the research was primary research in the form of interviews with coworking space owners and some regular customers and users of the space.

User research helped develop a list of requirements that the UI should include.
Mockups
The landing window for this application contains an office traffic monitor to track the busiest times and days to make efficient use of the space for both users and office managers.
​
The page also contains a blog for news updates that the coworking space management team can use to keep visitors informed about updates.



Profile page contains information on the visitor's account and their specific ID and other metrics. Privacy information about visitor data is very important and was, therefore, kept high on the menu list.

In addition, the payment options allow for cash or digital payment in subscription form
Customer interaction and relations are very important in these office spaces and therefore having a easily accessible contact page is vital for the success of the application and business.
Accessibility considerations
App colours were kept on brand, subtle and simple to focus on app functionality and keeping user interaction time short and to the point.
Icons were large and kept in the bottom navigation bar to maintain simplicity for easy of use for people with different levels of computer literacy and eyesight quality
The calendar selection tool has an instant check icon to notify if the day chosen is available
Takeaways
IMPACT

The impact of this project was to make coworking spaces more accessible to entrepreneurs in a city where office space is in short supply and expensive. The increase in users using the space will help build a productive community.
WHAT I LEARNED
​
Including the users and existing customer base will always provide a more informed ideation process .
